Graunl
The game of Graunl is a two-player game inspired by classic strategy games such as Chess, Go, Stratego, and others. The goal of the game is to control all four of the large spots at the same time.
Pieces:
There are three different types of pieces: the srl, the tiyK, and the viKry, each of which moves in its own way. The srl can move one spot in any direction. The tiyK can move two spots horizontally or vertically. The viKry can move two spots diagonally. When a piece moves, it creates another piece in the space behind it. The srl creates a viKry, the viKry creates a tiyK, and the tiyK creates a srl. You cannot move on top of or over your own pieces or your opponent's pieces of the same type.
Capturing:
Regardless of who is moving, capturing always follows the same pattern, which is the opposite of the creation pattern. The srl can capture your opponent's viKry, your viKry can capture your opponent's tiyK, and your tiyK can capture your opponent's srl. These capturing rules apply whether the pieces are ending up on the same spot or one piece is jumping over the other. They also apply for pieces that are being created. When a move is made, all capturing and creation rules apply at the same time. For example, you move your tiyK to an empty spot, jumping over your opponent's viKry. Your opponent's viKry captures your tiyK, but your tiyK also creates a srl on the same spot as the viKry, capturing it. If a piece is ever created on the same spot as a piece of the same type, both pieces are destroyed.
Playing remotely:
I don't currently have any servers available for playing over the internet, but you can still play remotely with your friends. When you make a move, it is expressed as a hex number. You can copy that hex number (with ctrl-c) and send it to your friend over your preferred chat service. Your friend can then paste that number into their game and click paste move, and the game will make the move. If one player has an issue such as a browser crash, the other player can copy the whole game in order to get back to that point.
